Braces Bowling Green
Compton Orthodontics is Your Bowling Green Braces Specialist
Our Bowling Green braces expert can help you
Before placing your braces on, we will collect digital x-rays, photos, and a model of your mouth. Dr. Compton will then use these details to develop a customized treatment plan based on your specific needs. This plan will include information about the movements each tooth needs to make in order to achieve optimal positioning. This will help us determine how the brackets will be placed.
The brackets are attached, and a wire is then inserted to place customized pressure on the teeth that require movement. Through remodeling, these teeth are slowly but surely guided into the correct positions, which is done with bends in the wire to direct precise movements. The bone surrounding the roots of teeth also undergoes minor changes, as when braces apply pressure on a tooth it causes osteoblasts and osteoclasts to form around its root. This works both ways - negative pressure is present on one side of the tooth, where the bone will be removed, while reform takes place on the other.
In order for remodeling to take effect properly, sustained pressure must be placed upon the tooth with the help of retainers. Once the braces are taken off there's a risk that they may drift back towards their old position without the constant use of a retainer.
What Do We Offer?
Metal Braces
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces offer the same benefits of metal braces and can be a great choice for straightening your teeth. They have become increasingly popular with older teen and adult patients, as they are less conspicuous. While they are typically used on upper teeth more than lower teeth, their brackets tend to be larger and more delicate than metal ones; thus, we generally don't recommend them for younger patients.
With ceramic braces, you will see visible signs of progress which can help you feel more encouraged by both your beautiful smile and the orthodontic journey!
